On July 24, 2024, Autism Bucks organised a memorable trip for 27 of our members along the Grand Union Canal aboard the Sheldrake III. This beautiful journey, made possible by the wonderful crew from Waterways Experiences, provided our members with an opportunity to enjoy the serene beauty of the canal while engaging in an interactive experience.
The entire trip lasted about four hours, during which we navigated through four locks. Our members enthusiastically participated in the lock operations, stepping off the boat to assist the crew. This hands-on experience was not only educational but also immensely enjoyable, as it allowed everyone to engage with the canal’s unique features and learn more about the mechanics of waterway travel.
A special mention goes to Paulette, who tirelessly provided a steady flow of delicious food from the tiny galley. Her efforts were greatly appreciated by all, adding a warm and delightful touch to the day’s adventures. The food was well received and kept everyone’s spirits high throughout the trip.
The success of this outing underscores the importance of community and shared experiences in enhancing the lives of our members. We are grateful to Waterways Experiences for their exceptional hospitality and to everyone who made this trip possible. It was a day filled with fun and camaraderie, creating lasting memories for all involved.
Autism Bucks remains committed to providing such enriching experiences for our members, promoting inclusivity and engagement in all our activities. We look forward to more adventures and opportunities to bring our community closer together.
